Me and a guy I know are going to even-trade vehicles. He lost his title, so he has to get another one. When we both go to the DMV, what costs will I have to cover to get the new title in my name, register the new car, and transfer my tag to the new car????|||Not sure how much transfer of title costs, but both of you will be paying taxes on the swap. Unless you are immediate family and a vehicle is being gifted, you pay taxes on the value of the vehicle.|||rays suck
