How long before they send your cancelation notice to the dmv? florida?

Who is "they"? If you mean the insurance company. It is done immediately. You have no leeway, you have no grace period. If you have no insurance, do not drive !|||Bout as long as it takes them to type in your cancellation notice.

Might as well surrender your registration and car license now too, it's suspended the moment the DMV gets the notice, and you are required by law to do so.

p.s. if you don't have coverage, you can have your driving privileges along with the registration and car license suspended for up to 3 years. Right off the Florida DMV web site, you can read it here.
